Happy 4th of July Weekend!!!

I hope that you have a safe and happy holiday.  Fourth of July is not only a special time for America, but it is a special time for the Lucas family as well.

What were you doing 11 years ago on July 4, 1998?  I was working the fireworks standby at Lincoln-Way High School.  It was a great night for fireworks, a little warm but good.  This would also be the night that I would meet Guinevere and Caitlyn.  The rest you could say is history.  Well, not history because it is a book that is still being written.

A lot of things have changed since that first Fourth of July.  Our family has grown.  Our career path has changed several times.  Caitlyn has grown up to be a freshman in high school.  McKinley is spending her first weekend away with a friend at Wisconsin Dells.  Ryleigh and JP never cease to amaze me each day.  Guinevere continues to find ways to read my mind.  The one thing that has remained constant is that each year, there are the fireworks to remind all of us about how our family started, and more than that, how the United States started.  While both have had their good times and down times, this celebration reminds us how lucky we are.

To my family, thank you for so many wonderful Fourth of Julys and for each and every day in between.  I love all of you and look forward to each and everyone to come.
